Daryl MacLellan
President

Daryl MacLellan was named president of CWB Maxium Financial in March 2016, following the acquisition of Maxium and Desante by Canadian Western Bank. He previously served as president of Desante and managing director of Maxium since 2011, directing the teams that provide innovative, individualized financing to customers and overseeing all aspects of risk management as well as structured finance transactions. A tenacious problem-solver, Daryl’s leadership approach continues to be “to work together to change impossible situations to possible ones.”

Daryl earned his chartered accountant designation in 1989 at Arthur Andersen and, in 1990, joined Newcourt Credit Group, which was subsequently acquired by CIT. He held a variety of increasingly senior roles at Newcourt/CIT, guiding teams within corporate finance, structured finance and project finance, among others. In 1995, he was appointed president of CIT Canada and CIT Group Securities (Canada) Inc. While performing this role, he assumed management of a business group based in New York, with managed portfolio assets in excess of $10 billion. He served on the board of directors of the Canadian Finance & Leasing Association from 2005 – 2016, and currently serves on several other public and private boards. Intensely competitive, he is an avid participant in many sports, predominantly golf. In addition, he can always be counted on to contribute time and energy to community events as an active volunteer. Daryl graduated with honours from the co-op program at the University of Waterloo.
